AIM: IdaMrJs
Origin: Dutch, from Amsterdam. 59 years young. 4 children and grandchildren.
Background in Organizational sciences & Phisosophy. 30 years of experience in organisation development, consulting and training. Member of Amida Buddhist Community + Order in Narborough (UK).
Interested in the role and renewal of religion in the world. The Amida Buddhist Order, the Community and the Jodoshu school stand fully and engaged in the world. We call this engaged Buddhism, meaning to seek a Buddhist view on structural and individual causes of suffering of all sentient being. Contemplation and action are considered two sides of one coin.
I never lost my Christian background although I suffered from my Calvinist upbringing. I'm very interested in the Buddhist-Christian dialogue and consider Pureland Buddhism as particularly suitable for this dialogue and for religious renewal as well.
My life as an Amidist gives me the opportunity of meeting numerous people of all kinds of countries and background.
I love poetry and art in the broadest sense of the word. I like to paint and sculpt besides other activities: gardening, building and taking care of the Amida center in France, with 30 acres of wonderful wild woodland. And above all the daily religious practice and retreats of different kinds.
This years of my life are free and give me access to creativity and even speculation, combining science, philosophy, art and religion in a creative and constructive dialogue. But mainly it is the simple but dynamic live I live, so different from my busy, adsorbing career.
